Upon completion of this course, students will be able to demonstrate proficiency in certain administrative cognitive objectives and psychomotor and affective competencies according to the Core Curriculum of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB), including, but not limited to:

Identifying the healthcare team

Law and ethics

Scope of practice and standard of care

Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)

Effective written and verbal communication

Appointment scheduling

Creating and maintaining the medical record.
