STUDENT LIFE

Jayhawk Hub – Room 2046

The Office of Student Life, housed within the Student Success Department, supports student engagement, leadership development, and a strong sense of belonging at Muskegon Community College.

Student Life engages students through:
• Celebrating Jayhawk pride
• Out-of-classroom programming
• Leadership development opportunities
• Community connections

Students are encouraged to enrich their college experience by participating in college-sponsored events, activities, clubs, and student organizations. These opportunities help students meet peers, learn new skills, connect with campus resources, mentor others, and persist through the challenges of college life.

The Office of Student Life oversees the annual Jayhawk Frenzy welcome events at the beginning of each fall semester and Winter Welcome Days at the start of the winter semester, along with monthly programs and activities throughout the academic year. Student Life is also where students can start or join a student organization or club and develop leadership through involvement.

In addition, Student Life facilitates partnerships with community organizations that support diverse student needs and interests by inviting them onto campus.

Registered Student Organizations and Clubs

Student Life enhances the college experience by offering a variety of student organizations and clubs that reflect diverse interests, identities, and academic pursuits. These groups provide opportunities for social engagement, intellectual growth, cultural involvement, and leadership development.

In many cases, organizations and clubs allow students to participate in projects connected to classroom learning and career interests. Information about current activities is shared on campus each semester.

Students who share a common interest and would like to form a new student organization or club are encouraged to visit the Student Success Department. Each group is overseen by a full-time faculty or staff advisor, and members must be enrolled as students at MCC.

Lists and contact information for currently recognized student groups are available online at www.muskegoncc.edu/campus-life/get-involved/clubs-organizations/

Student Government Association (SGA) – Jayhawk Hub, Room 2046

The Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the official representative body for MCC students. SGA provides a forum for student expression on matters of campus concern and promotes leadership development and student involvement.

The goals of SGA are:
• To convey the student voice to the administration and Board of Trustees
• To provide for discussion, investigation, and resolution of student concerns and ideas
• To retain authority to appoint and remove student representatives to the College’s Council System and designated committees
• To promote the interests of the College’s student community
• To protect and uphold students’ rights
• To plan, encourage, and promote participation in college events and community service activities
