Students will confront the sometimes-conflicting demands of artistic self-expression and critical evaluation. They will be challenged to expand the generally accepted definition of art and include work that is not specifically beautiful and/or entertaining.

Students will be exposed to generally accepted methodology, production and reproduction techniques of the specific art form.

Students will be encouraged to develop their critical abilities through individual and group evaluation of their own creative works, as well as those of others.

Students will be introduced to the creative process as it applies to the specific art ~ form studied, as well as its application to other problem-solving opportunities.

The student is expected to read with understanding, think analytically, and demonstrate the ability to interpret, analyze and evaluate literature.

The student will gain knowledge of the literary movements: Victorianism, Romanticism and Modernism.

The student will study and apply learned information of culture and time periods to works read. 8. The student will write and demonstrate understanding of information gained.
