Students will learn the concepts and tools used by engineering design teams

Students will work in teams to develop a product

Design teams will develop a project plan that conforms to the assigned deadlines, and issue progress reports at prescribed intervals

Teams will provide detail presentations reviewing their designs from tolerance-stackups to final design working prototype.

Understand the process of designing and developing tooling for industry.

To acquire knowledge of commercial tooling components and manufacturing catalogs.

To draw and dimension tool detail drawings using standard industrial procedures and dimensioning techniques.

To calculate a tolerance study of a product drawing so a tool may be designed to manufacture that part.

To design and draw proper assembly drawings with a complete list of materials using standard industrial tool design techniques.
